Facilities
Gabe Pando Park

Background: Since early in 2007, a group of parents, along with school administrators, coaches and teachers, have been working together to make significant facility enhancements to the Rocky Mountain baseball facility in conjunction with naming the facility after an inspirational former Lobo baseball player, Gabe Pando, who died in 2006 from Lou Gehrig's disease. It is the desire of this group to make the baseball field a showcase field statewide, representing the excellence of Rocky Mountain High School and its Lobo Way as well as the Poudre School District.

Pando Park Project Descriptions

Phase 1: New Scoreboard (Spring 2008) COMPLETED
  • The present scoreboard is placed in a relatively poor line]of sight location and does not provide adequate information.

  • The goal is to install a new scoreboard system in time for the 2008 season, installed in right field behind the outfield fence.

  • The scoreboard will carry the new name for the baseball facility:Gabe Pando Park and Home of the Lobos..

  • The estimated cost for a scoreboard is $35,000 including installation and will be the first priority improvement for Gabe Pando Park.

Phase 2: Permanent Outfield Fence (Summer/Fall 2008)

  • At present, Pando Park has a temporary outfield fence that is installed prior to each fall season, and then removed in August.

  • The installation of a permanent eight foot high wood fence in the outfield with a small removable section will accommodate full use of the RMHS JV football field during the football season.

  • The installation of the outfield fence will include a ten foot warning track and a batterfs eye in centerfield at a height and width to be determined.

  • The outfield fence will accommodate advertising sections for corporate sponsors who donate on a multi]year basis to the renovations of Pando Park and Rocky Mountain Baseball.

  • The approximate cost is $95,000, which covers the material and implementation expenses of building the fence, the warning track, and relay out of the current irrigation system.

Phase 3: New Dugouts and Backstop (2009)
  • The third phase of the Pando Park facility enhancement would be the installation of a new mesh net backstop.

  • In addition to the backstop, dugouts for both teams would be rebuilt with adjusted locations.

  • Estimated cost would be $50,000-$100,000
